In 2011 archaeologists discovered the oldest winery in the world in Areni Cave-1, which dates back to the 4th millennium BC. Apparently, the winemaking traditions were inherited from one generation to another, and now the most famous wine brand of Armenia is Areni, and the most popular wine event is the Areni Wine Festival.
However, Areni is one of the many brands of the famous Armenian wines and brandies which are made from endemic grape varieties. We offer you to familiarize yourselves with the magic of winemaking within the framework of seasonal wine tours in Armenia: groups of tourists will be able to participate in the whole process from harvesting, conservation (procurement) and pressing to bottling or bottling into barrels for aging. Naturally, you will have a chance of seeing a ritual of pressing the grape with feet, and you can order a barrel of wine or cognac with your name and return after it to Armenia in a year or couple of years.
